Let it Snow

So we had our first real snow fall last night.  So I told the gilrs that when they came home from school we would build a snowman.
What perfect snow we had to do this and this was the result...

And we love our snowman

There's an Alien in the house!!!

I was putting laundry away the other day and Mackenzie comes running into the room saying "Mom Lucy got into your make-up and she looks like an Alien!!"
So as Little Miss Lucy comes into my room this is what I saw......

See the wonderful use of the mascara :)

Puddle Jumping!

Well we had a day of rain last week and Mackenzie and Ella said they wanted to go splash in the puddles.
So daddy pointed out a big puddle at the end of our driveway and well as you can see it was a whole lot of fun!

Ah we are all wet!

Candy Apples

Last month as the kids and I went to do groceries we were trying to think of a treat for Family Home Evening.  Well the girls decided that we should have Candy Apples which just happens to be my favorite Carnival treat.

The only problem was I double dipped the apples so the candy was so thick that we had to bang them on the table before we could even bite into them!
Since Josh could not eat the apples he just watched us.

After about 5 minutes with the candy apple Mackenzie gave up :)

YUMMMM!!!!

I WANT A DOGGGG

3 weeks ago we visited Uncle Pat, Auntie Jocelyne and their 2 dogs Orla and Sophie.
Well while we were there Ella who is very taken with the pooches asked Auntie Jocelyne if she could borough a leash, and Auntie Jocelyne said yes.
Well needless to say our home has not been the same since!!

Ella has decided that now she WANTS A DOGGGGG!  She has asked me everyday since we came home from Kingston.  Mummy and Daddy explained that no we are not getting a dog, that right now it is just too much work for us all.
Well about a week ago Ella woke up at about 2am and I went into her room and asked "What's wrong Ella?"  She said "Mummy I want a dog!"  I was like oh for goodness sake!!! "Ella we are not getting a dog"  "That's okay Mummy because GOD is going to get me a dog!"
Well what a shock...so now we are all waiting for GOD to get her a dog. lol
But in the mean time she has taken on the role of the dog in the family.  And wears Orla's leash all the time!

She has also got Lucy to join in too!

Oh to be a kid again Woof Woof!

Trick or Treat

So it time to trick or treat!
And what a beautiful year it was to go.
So the evening began with the girls carving their pumpkins which was a lot of fun...then it was time to get dressed and do our make-up.

This year Mackenzie dressed-up as Cleopatra
Ella was an evil witch (the more evil the better!)
Lucy was a bunny rabbit
And Joshua was a banana

Once we got on our way Joshua feel fast asleep while the girls got all their goodies from our neighbours.

Dosn't he make a cute Banana :)

The girls had so much fun, but what they wanted to do the most that night was to come home and trick or treat at our own house and get candy from dadddy.

Can't wait for next year...Mackenzie has already planned her costume for 2009!
Now I wonder how long it will take to eat all that candy ;)

Say Cheese! And other happy faces!

Never a fan of the stoic-faced pictures of olden times where families stand posing, starched and expressionless, I love to pull faces in pictures.

I never realized the hereditary nature of the habit though - until the Little Holdens started posing for pictures!!

Lucy seems to be making it an art form...

And no prizes for guessing which sister she gets it from!

Of course most people would say that they get it from me but then I had to have got it from somewhere....

...it looks like Grandad is doing his best to ensure that the next generation will continue smiling. Come on Joshua - say "Cheese!"

Baths, Beaches and Little Bro'

So here are the three amigos!
And it's bathtime for the bonzos. The little ladies of course love splashing around and being mermaids in the water - but some of them take this water thing a little too far...

...take for instance little sister Lucy who, noticing mummy had left the bath for a moment, decided she just was not going to wait for any silly old tradition of taking clothes off before enjoying bathtime!

...and Ella seeing the water at the beach, just couldn't resist plunging in to cool herself down and avoid getting too red in the summer sun...

...but mummy and Lucy were careful to go to the beach already red!

Meanwhile Joshua is loving the lifestyle.. I mean who wouldn't when you have doting sisters like he has!

Yeah! It's cool being a little bro'!

love you all,
the little holdens

Ella's Brand of "CUTE"

We have the cutest kids but I never dreamed that cute could come in so many different forms. Mackenzie loves making cards. She will draw rainbows and flowers and butterflies and make hearts and she loves using this to practice her writing by usually signing them "Mummy I love you from Mackenzie". When she plays she is always the princess - Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Belle. It is very cute.
Ella is a different kind of cute. She loves being the bad wolf and the bad witch. And while I say this you need not worry that she is laboring under some dark psychological trauma - she just loves being the mischievous one! Well I think she noticed Mackenzie got lots of kisses and "thank you's" when she drew pictures for us so the other night Ella decided to draw daddy a picture. She came into the room very proudly and gave me the picture.
"Here wu gwo Dada" She said.

"Wow Thanks Ella..tell me all about it" I asked, "What is it?"
She cocked her head and looked puzzled that I would ask and then said "It's a stworm cwoud Dada!"
Like, Duh! lol
It's not flowers or rainbows or princesses or hearts but it is Ella's very own brand of CUTE!

First of spring.

We went to the park today across from the house. We played races in the snow. The snow was still very deep. We had a lot of fun and we made pink snow and we ate popsicles. And we splashed in puddles. Lucy also prayed with her arms folded.
